European Notified Body and Approvals
R&TTE Notified Body Service (99/5/EC)
Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment in Europe must comply with the R&TTE directive , which is a so called 'new approach' directive based on the bluebook (and global approach) principles. The R&TTE directive specifies several assessment procedures in Annex I to V. We provides R&TTE Annex III and IV services. Most R&TTE equipment are Short Range Devices (SRD) and ERC Recommendation 70-03 as published by the European Communications Office (ECO, the former ERO) gives an overview of different groups of Equipment, categorized in Annexes 1 to 13. The European Union publishes a list of current Harmonized Standards (HS) in the Official Journals (OJ), including cessation dates where applicable. The Notified Body provides an Opinion (Letter) based on a Technical Construction File, containing evidence of complaincy with the essential requirements (Spectrum efficiency, EMC, health and safety), technical information, declarations, and user documentation. The responisble party must issue a DoC and label the equipment, package correctly. The CE mark may only be placed if the equipment fufils all applicable directives. In case the frequency of the equipment is not harmonized throughout the Union, the equipmnet shall be marked with an addiotnal alert sign and the radio agencies of all applicable Memberstates shall be notified. Note that Electrical Safety is always required for R&TTE, since the directive states that no voltage limits apply. RF exposure related standards use limits specified in ERC Rec 1999/519/EC. The commission published a R&TTE guidance document. In Europe, ETSI and CENELEC are the main standardization bodies.
R&TTE Notification Service
We provides Notificaiton Service for non-class I Radio Equipment and takes care of the adminstrational and technical communication towards the National Radio Agencies (NRA's).
EMC Notified Body Service (2004/108/EC)
ITE and other electronic or electric equipment in Europe must comply with the EMC directive ( also a 'new approach' directive). Teleconformity offers EMC Notified Body service. EMC guidance and the most currentHarmonized Standards for EMC are published by the commission.
As alternative to the Notified Body, We can also perform a EMC TCF Review (using Harmonized Standards). It covers the same verification aspects without involvement of the Notified Body, however concluded with an EMC Review Certificate.
EMC Report Review
We offers technical review (assessment) of EMC test reports (following the essential requirements of the European EMC directive). This type of assessment focuses on verification of the applicable test standard, test requirements, test modi, execution of tests, including quality aspects (as normally expected within ISO 17025). Compared to the Notified Body review, report review is an assessment of the Test Report(s), whereas a Notified Body may conduct the assessment on all exhibits whitin the TCF. When the report review is passed, a certificate for Report Review will be issued. This service is specifically interesting for manufacturers who don't require full Notified Body involvement, but do require an independent verification for their test reports (e.g. specialized equipment), so they can issue their DoC with confidence.
LVD directive (2006/95/EC)
The Low Voltage Directive (LVD) applies for electronic or electric products not covered by the R&TTE (or other directives that include Electrical Safety) for 50-1000VAC or 75-1500VDC at the In- or Output Ports. Battery powered equipment outside these ranges are not covered by the LVD directive. We can assist you with LVD Body service, however LVD body assessment is not mandatory. Most products are tested and declared compliant by means of a sef-declaration (DoC). Equipment intended for international markets mostly follow the IECEE CB scheme. LVD guidance and the most current Harmonized Standardsfor LVD are published by the commission.
As alternative to the LVD Body, Teleconformity can also perform a LVD TCF Review (using Harmonized Standards). It covers the same verification aspects without involvement of the Notified Body, however concluded with an LVD Review Certificate.
